There’s a ton of photos of Pat in camo, cardinal red, or sun devil yellow, but this always struck me as the one that best fit the man I read so much about. Can’t begin to describe the influence he’s had on this site, and the good that’s been done for veteran leaders through the foundation in his name in the 15 years since his death. It was because of Pat’s own journal habits that I took so many notes during my time in Helmand and at home, and it was his open mind that made me take a hard look at our own community.
